Getting to Know You

Oh Lane, this time off from work has been so wonderful. I love every minute I have with you. Even when you are screaming at me all day! Your daddy has given me the most precious gift I could ever ask for. Only, I didn't have to ask! He works so hard to provide for us so we can be together. Trust me I would never take him for granted. I could not have picked a better daddy for you!

Your First Valentine's Day

Your first Valentine's Day was so fun. I took you up to Fowler Elementary to see all of the kids I had been teaching all year. I promised them when I was pregnant I would bring you up so they could see you on Valentine's Day. When we arrived the kids could not stay in their seats. They were so excited to see you. All of the teacher's raved about how beautiful you were. They all of course saw us on the news and in the newspaper so they were so happy to finally meet the little local celebrity. After that we came home and your dad met us there. Then we dropped you off at your grandpa and grandma's house while your dad and I went on an oh so romantic date to get pedicures. By the time we picked you up it was time to run your bedtime routine and get you to bed. We put you in your Valentine's Day pajamas and you were knocked out.

Your First Snow

We knew we needed pictures of you in the snow but we were so worried about taking you out in the cold! You haven't left the house much but when you do you are bundled up so much when I take you out of the car seat you are drenched in sweat! We had to have pictures so we got you dress in your lady bug outfit and went outside. We were only out there for 5 minutes, but we were still so worried!

One Month Old

Sweet sweet Lane, one month has come and gone. You are still just as beautiful as ever. Right now you don't do much of anything! You eat, sleep, pee, and poop. You never spit up which is so nice!! I don't even have to use a burp wrap! You are starting to let out little smiles while you are awake now. They are far and few between, but when I catch one it is like magic!

You hate being naked! It is so cute to watch you because you shoot your arms and legs straight out and lock them that way. Then you open your eyes really wide and wined up your cry. It is so funny. I am sure it is not nearly as funny to you but we like all of your reactions-- good or bad. Anytime we change your clothes you like to momentarily freak out. ESPECIALLY if your dad is the one changing you! Don't worry he is getting better. He still thinks he is going to break you and it takes him around 6-8 minutes to change your diaper. He will learn his own way to change you and become a professional at baby changing in no time, I am sure!

You hate tummy time. You are so funny. Your neck is plenty strong to lift your head for about 20 seconds at a time now, but instead you squish your face into the ground and scream as loud as you can! You are not a fan of tummy time. Just when I think you are going to burst, I usually pick you up. I hate doing tummy time because you hate it so much but I know you need to be challenged.

You also hate being put in the car seat still but you love car rides! Once you are in the car and we make it around the corner you are knocked out. We think it is so funny because as soon as we get stuck at a red light and have to stop; you start screaming. We just laugh and tell you it's going to be okay!

You love your Wubbanub. It is a pacifier that has a little stuffed animal attached. It is the best invention ever! You have a pink bear. When you had your normal pacifier you were not very good at keeping it in your mouth and you would spit it out and onto the floor. When we were in public and you spit it onto the floor I was in big trouble. But the Wubbanub is awesome it keeps it laying on your chest. It is also very hard to lose! We are just trying to keep your puppy brother, Easton, away from it! He would have destroyed that little thing in 5 minutes!

You crack us up. You can be screaming you loudest and your daddy will play Beethoven on his phone and the second you hear it you stop screaming to listen to it! Your dad and I like to think you remember it from the womb. We used Beethoven to try to get you to turn head down. It obviously did not work but now you like classical music. I feel like I sing the tunes while I am sleeping. I have heard them a hundred times!

A month went by so fast. I feel like I need to take a picture of you every day. You are growing and changing every time you wake up! You look just your daddy now! You have his lips, nose, hair, and face shape. All you got from me is my eyebrows and ears!
